Area Police
Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations suggest the substance was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior official commented the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
